SMYTHE have been an icon of Canadian style since their inception in 2004; with a growing base of fashionable fans (including a certain Duchess), the brand has attained a cult-like status on the global stage. When it came time to transition SMYTHE’s online presence, Design Lab offered technical consultation on the different eCommerce solutions available in today’s market while providing guidance to ensure the best platform for their specific needs was deployed. A customized Shopify installation was created collaboratively, with Design Lab handling the user experience, development, content integration and end-user training and Open providing the interface design.

Fashionable, not Late

 

As with any eCommerce installation, coordinating a seamless rollout was an important part of this project’s success. Design Lab’s role in the overarching management of this project was key in ensuring that all facets of the physical operations were in sync with the Shopify storefront. Design Lab also provided additional support to stabilize the redirection of the legacy Drupal installation, allowing search engines to easily index the new site upon launch. Within the first week of live site activity, SMYTHE was happy to see an immediate return on investment through an influx of sales.
