Designing for Delicacies
Scaramouche has been a celebrated Toronto institution for over 35 years; while their food is spectacular, the key differentiator is the restaurants’ attention to every aspect of their customers’ experience. For the past 12 years that we’ve worked with Scaramouche, the goals of the project have never wavered – create an asset that allows patrons to virtually step inside the restaurant, find inspiration in the ambience and be seated at their favourite table. Utilizing a clean interface and showcasing beautiful imagery of each culinary creation helped to visually convey the atmosphere of dining with Scaramouche.

Screen to Table Service
The most recent redesign effort was not purely about visual experience; we wanted to build a lean content management system that automated content updates, increasing efficiency and saving both time and money. Integrating Opentable Reservation technology was the first step in this process, as it allows patrons to easily reserve their seat on from any screen size. Our WordPress theme also boasts light customization that allows Scaramouche to easily update key content in the site.

We challenged Design Lab to devise a site that would accurately reflect what we are. That is two distinct restaurants under one roof. Each with it’s own style, atmosphere and clientele. One surprising upside has been the increased volume in requests for gift cards. By linking to our website, sales have grown dramatically. I am happy to recommend Design Lab, enjoyed working with them and would gladly do so again.
